Since 1976, is Chairman of the Board of CITEVE – Portuguese Technological Centre for Textile and Clothing Industries, and since 2007 is also Chairman of the Board of CeNTI – Centre of Nanotechnology and Smart Materials. Since 2004, António Amorim is member of the Board of ADRAVE - Regional Development Agency Valley Ave At international level, António Amorim is a member of the Strategic Committee of Première Vision, on behalf of the Portuguese Industry.

CeNTI is a research institute specialized in nanotechnology, functional materials, smart materials, printed electronics and additive technologies applied to several sectors, mainly developing solutions for Automotive & Aeronautics, Architecture & Construction and Health, Security & Wellbeing. Her R&TD areas include the Fabrication of Novel Hybrid Nanomaterials and their Application in Smart and Functional Textiles and Devices for Energy Storage, Protection and Sensing Applications. She is author/coauthor of 40 peer-reviewed papers, 4 book chapters and more than 150 communications in international and national conferences, leading to an h-index of 16. Aiming to boost her research to the market, since 2016 Clara is co-founder of the startup project WEStoreOnTEX, which has been recognized by several entrepreneurship awards such as the Innovation Award of Exame Informática “Os Melhores do Portugal Tecnológico”, ClimateLaunchpad, UPTEC School of Startups and the Best Energy Business at iUP25k 2016. His areas of expertise involve both thermosetting polymers and thermoplastic polymers. After his PhD, he collaborated as Amino Resins Plant Manager in a particleboard company (2000-2003) and as a post-doc researcher in the Centre of Chemical Processes of the (former) Technical University of Lisbon (2003-2006), where he did some consultancy work for the chemical industry. He is a member of the High Level Group of the Portuguese Textile Cluster and coordinator of the Special Interest Group of Mobility. Fernando Merino defends an approach of industrial innovation based on strategic marketing and strategic alliances, and networking with creative industries. His main research interests explore models that incorporate flexible electronics into flexible materials for the application of ICTs and Material Intelligence concerning Smart Comfort Systems and Smart Assisted Driving. Besides R&D on Smart Textiles and cooperation with designers, he also works on R&D under Bionic concepts and concepts of re-use of materials for the Circular Economy. This way of organizing and managing innovation was behind the recognition for ERT as the winner of the most prestigious innovation prize in Portugal in 2016, awarded by COTEC a Business Association for Innovation, and delivered by its honorary president, the President of the Portuguese Republic.

She graduated in Biological Engineering at University of Minho in 1996, and started working as a superior technician at the Portuguese Technological Centre for the Textile Industries (CITEVE), where she had her first close contact with textile research. Later, she attained her Masters in Industrial Biotechnology at S. Paulo University and in 2005 she finished her Ph.D in Textile Chemistry at University of Minho. Since 2007 she has been working as a senior researcher in CENTI (Centre for Nanotechnology and Smart Materials), and is currently the CTO for that Institution. With more than 20 years of experience in applied and industry-oriented research, 6 granted patents and more than 40 published papers in peer reviewed journals, she is responsible for the management and coordination of several national and international R&D projects covering various research topics.
