Senior Scientist in the Human Performance group at the Human Factors Research Institute of TNO in The Netherlands and in the CBRN Protection Department at TNO Defence, Safety and Security (The Netherlands). From 1997 to 2013 I’ve been working in various formal and informal roles as Senior Scientist, project manager and coordinator of the R&D efforts in Personal Protective Clothing and Equipment at TNO Defense, Security and Safety (The Netherlands), an independent not-for-profit contract research organization in The Netherlands. In this fashion I had to combine the Human Factors expertise (ergonomics, physiology, psychology) with the available technical expertise on ballistic and chemical/biological protection, textiles, sensor technology and others technology areas to apply research to solve questions and problems for customers. Main customers were the Netherlands and foreign armed forces, fire fighters, law enforcement and sports. From August 2005 to August 2006 I have worked as exchange scientist in the Individual Protection Directorate of Natick Soldier Center, an US Army lab that performs R&D on personal protective clothing and equipment for the soldier.
